Franz Ferdinand and Sparks have confirmed details of their long-mooted joint album together and a pair of UK shows: calling themselves FFS, the two bands have announced the release date of their joint album will be revealed shortly. It will follow a pair of UK shows in June at Glasgow Art School (June 16) and London Troxy (June 29).

The project has long been spoken about, with Sparks keyboardist Ron Mael telling Classic Pop last year that the album was first discussed when Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos met Sparks after a gig in Los Angeles in 2013.

Mael said: “You can really hear both bands’ styles mashing together well. It’s coming together seamlessly.”
