Portishead have announced a last-minute gig at Cardiff University as a warm-up for this weekend’s headline show at Latitude Festival.

Tickets for Thursday’s concert in Cardiff are available now at £27.50 from http://www.gigsandtours.com/event/portishead/the-great-hall-cardiff-uni/896152/

It will be the trio’s first show in the UK since they played at Glastonbury in 2013. The band headline Latitude on Saturday, with Alt-J and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds the festival’s other headliners. Also playing over the weekend are Manic Street Preachers, James Blake, Caribou, Wild Beasts, Santigold, The Boomtown Rats, Years & Years, Laura Marling, Django Django, Public Service Broadcasting, La Roux, Sbtrkt and The 2 Bears.

Although the trio haven’t released anything since 2008’s album Third, Adrian Utley said in February 2014 that they were “clearing the schedules” in order to concentrate on making their fourth record. Since then, Geoff Barrow has released a film soundtrack, Ex Machina, with Ben Salisbury, Barrow’s bandmate in drone band Drokk. In 2013, it was announced that Beth Gibbons had signed a deal with Domino Records to release a solo album, though no information has been forthcoming since then.
