Kate Bush is a photographers dream – particularly when the person behind the camera enjoys privileged, trusted access to the woman herself. Like many other musical greats, from Lou Reed to BB King, Kate clearly holds a huge amount of respect for the talents of visionary Italian lensman Guido Harari. “I love to work with Guido,” said Kate. “He makes you feel special without ever saying anything. I think of him as an artist as well as a photographer.”
“He makes you feel special without ever saying anything. I think of him as an artist as well as a photographer.”
Kate’s interests were first piqued thanks to Guido’s exemplary work with her legendary dance tutor Lindsay Kemp and, as a result, Harari went on to enjoy a unique and highly creative period working as Kate’s official photographer for over a decade, between 1982 and 1993. Now, Guido’s productive tenure with Bush as culminated in this stunning new limited edition book, The Kate Inside, a sumptuous tribute to Bush’s incredible talent and a beautiful conduit for her one-of-a-kind aesthetic – published by Wall of Sound Gallery.
In this luxurious 240-page hardbound tome, Guido’s commentary guides us through over 300 photos from his Kate Bush archives. On top of a wealth of classic images of Kate there are also rare outakes, contact sheets, never-before-seen shots and much more – most notably including intimate test Polaroids and personal notes written by Kate herself.
Guido has generously donated a signed copy of his book – one of only 1500 copies worldwide – for a very lucky Classic Pop reader to get their hands on.
