Lloyd Cole’s New Single, ‘Women’s Studies’ is out 21st October
Lloyd Cole is releasing a new single, ‘Women’s Studies’ that will be available on 21st October on Tapete Records. The single is taken from his electric new album, Standards, quoted as ‘a timeless classic’ by Classic Pop in July. The single is written and produced by Lloyd and performed by him with his band, featuring Fred Maher on drums and Matthew Sweet on bass and backing vocals, Joan (As Police Woman) Wasser on piano, Mark Schwaber and LC on guitars.
Lloyd has said that the song title may be loosely inspired by a Jools Holland interview: “I recall watching Jools Holland interviewing Miles Davis on The Tube. Miles was in amazing form but he didn’t want to talk about music but about his paintings, all of which seemed to be of his wife, from behind. So I took the phrase ‘Women’s Studies’, maybe inspired by Miles, and I just had fun with it…and along the way I was able to mine some authentic memories of when I was young and occasionally debauched.”
October not only sees the release of his new single but a solo tour as well, including songs from Standards and a number of nuggets from his extensive back catalogue.
