A documentary on Blancmange is to receive its London premiere next week at new gallery Lights Of Soho on July 8, with singer Neil Arthur doing a DJ set afterwards. You Keep Me Running Round And Round has already received an Award Of Merit at Los Angeles Indie Fest in 2014.

The film tells the story of Blancmange’s first ever gigs in Ireland in 2013 in Cork and Dublin, when Arthur realised that the Happy Families Too tour was the ideal chance to finally play in the country.

Introduced by Arthur, the film features footage of the shows plus interviews with Irish fans including taxi drivers and banking executives as well as Irish musicians influenced by Blancmange.

Director Tone Davies of Ditto TV told Classic Pop: “Ditto’s boss is a big Blancmange fan and we’ve helped Neil out with visuals over the past couple of years. This documentary is the first full-length collaboration with the band.”

Davies, who directed the video for Blancmange’s recent single Paddington, added that Ditto is in talks with TV channels to screen the documentary. A DVD release may include the full Dublin gig as well as extended interviews and out-takes with Arthur and the band’s fans.

Blancmange play a one-off show at London Garage on December 4 and will shortly sell their instrumental album Nil By Mouth on their website after it was sold on their recent tour.
