Just A Gigolo

A quick review of Just A Gigolo: The Original Soundtrack by David Bowie And Marlene Dietrich

Dietrich’s first film for 17 years saw her playing the madam to a troupe of gigolos. Bowie was one of those sex workers, and he contributes two versions of the sinister lament Revolutionary Song.

Dietrich’s haunting hotel piano take of the title track is even more sinister.

Add in Manhattan Transfer and The Pasadena Roof Orchestra and the overall effect is as unsettling as David Lynch.

One of the more intriguing recent one-off Bowie reissues to hunt out, presented here in a new blue vinyl run.

7/10
