The Stranglers have announced a new album, Dark Matters, their first in nine years.

The veteran punk band have also shared a new song, And If You Should See Dave…, an emotional tribute to their late keyboard player Dave Greenfield, who died of COVID a year last Monday.

“A year ago, my great friend and colleague of 45 years, Dave Greenfield, passed away, another victim of the pandemic,” said original member JJ Burnel. “We had already recorded most of the album with him and during the lockdowns our only wish was to complete it as a fitting tribute to his life and work. I consider this to be one of our finest recordings.”

Greenfield played on eight of the tracks off the forthcoming album, leaving Burnel and the other Stranglers to finish it off, while adding the song about Dave to the final tracklisting.
