Robbie Williams and The Struts will be performing new track Strange Days live on TV this Sunday
Pop dynamo Robbie Williams has buddied up with retro rockers The Struts for a brand new song and they’ll be performing it live on TV this Sunday (the 6th) as part of Soccer Aid.
The track, Strange Days, came about when the ex-Take Thatter got in touch with the band. “Robbie hit me up out of the blue asking if we could talk,” explains lead singer Luke Spiller. “We ended up FaceTiming for about two hours the first time we’d ever spoken, talking about life and music and UFOs and everything else you can think of. I asked if he’d like to work together at some point, and while we were making the album he graciously let us come over and record him singing on his front porch.”
“We did a vocal for a wonderful song that has been gifted my way,” adds Robbie. “It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to listen to this man sing. It’s great to be a fan of someone and then a part of this recording. It’s like having a hero here and I genuinely mean that.”
Strange Days premiered early this week on Radio Two and is the title track from the band’s upcoming third album, out next month.
Soccer Aid for Unicef is airing live on ITV this coming Sunday from 6.30pm. Soccer Aid started in 2006 and is the world’s biggest charity football match. Since its launch it has raised over £38 million for Unicef, with 2019’s event hitting a record-breaking £7.9 million.
