His 1000th show from 2023 will be available on black triple-vinyl with gatefold packaging, 2CD and Blu-ray

Gary Numan announces 1000: Live At The Electric Ballroom, the star’s 1000th show from April 2023.
The album captures the entire career-spanning performance, stepping into the start of his solo career with the iconic Carsas well as Metal from his debut solo album The Pleasure Principle plus Remind Me To Smile and I Die: You Die from the follow-up Telekon – both records which hit No.1. But Gary Numan has never been an artist to sit in stasis, and later material, such as three songs from 2021’s Intruder, reveal his arc from synth-pop pioneer to the influential forefather of industrial.
There are relatively deep cuts and special moments for the hardcore too: the rarely performed title track from 1997’s Exile; a first airing of In A Dark Place in over a decade; and a a guest appearance from his daughter Persia who reprised her performance from the studio recording of My Name Is Ruin. By the time the curtain comes down with the irresistible synth hook of Are ‘Friends’ Electric? one impression towers above all others – songs which once felt like soundwaves from a dystopian future have instead morphed into something curiously timeless.
Gary Numan says, “Playing 1000 shows is quite something, and yet if someone had said it was 5000 the number would have still felt low, given the extraordinary effort, sacrifice, commitment (and stress) that’s been poured into those shows over the years. Each tour is a life within a life, a world within a world. Each one a unique adventure. I have been touring my entire adult life, from a nervous, out-of-my-depth, suly young man to something entirely different today. It’s a life like no other, and I feel privileged to have reached the 1000 show milestone, and honoured to have shared that long journey with so many of you.”
