Bristol Sounds returns to the Canons Marsh Amphitheatre in the heart of the city’s harbourside this June with an unforgettable series of open-air concerts.

On Saturday 28 June, The Fratellis top a magnificent bill featuring Cast, Sleeper, Goldie Lookin’ Chain and Stereo MCs. Classic Pop has teamed up with Crosstown Concerts to offer readers the chance to win a set of four VIP Tickets, worth £400.

Headliners The Fratellis first hit the scene in the autumn of 2006 with their blistering debut album, Costello Music. Filled to the brim with catchy riffs and brash vocals, the record featured some of the Scottish indie rockers’ most enduring tracks, including Henrietta, Whistle For The Choir and Chelsea Dagger. After a run of festival slots this summer, including Bristol Sounds, the band will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut record with an extensive UK tour taking place next February.

Also celebrating a landmark album anniversary is Cast, who released their debut LP All Change on 16 October 1995. The band, fronted by John Power, are in the best position they’ve been in for decades. Last year’s Love Is The Call earned a wave of critical acclaim and marked the band’s highest chart position in 25 years. They are also supporting Oasis on the UK and Ireland leg of their long-awaited stadium reunion tour. Fans can expect to hear classics like Alright, Finetime, Sandstorm, and Walkaway during their hit-packed set.

Magnificent Bill

Sleeper formed when Louise Wener (vocals, guitar) and Jon Stewart (guitar) met while studying politics at school in Manchester. The group made its debut with Smart in February 1995 and the following year released The It Girl. Over the years, they released a total of five studio albums, and a collection of classic singles including Nice Guy Eddie, Sale Of The Century and What Do I Do Now?, securing their place in Britpop history.

Straight outta Newport and best known for the classic Your Missus Is A Nutter and Guns Don’t Kill People Rappers Do, Welsh rappers Goldie Lookin’ Chain are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their second studio album, SAFE AS F*CK. Expect nothing less than a full-blown party at Bristol’s harbourside as GLC promise to bring ‘a proper rave up’.

Completing the bill is Stereo MCs. In 1992 the collective shook the foundations of alternative dance music with their hit singles Connected and Step It Up. Their unique amalgamation of hip-hop, alt. dance, electronica and house saw the band rise to meteoric heights and their Connected LP won Best British Album at the 1994 Brit Awards and was shortlisted for the 1993 Mercury Prize.

Other headline acts appearing at Bristol Sounds include: Supergrass (Wednesday 25 June), Kaiser Chiefs (Thursday 26 June), Texas (Friday 27 June) and Olly Murs (Sunday 29 June).
