The two influential forces in US New Wave will be joined by special guests The Rezillos and Lene Lovich
Two of the most influential forces in US New Wave, DEVO and The B-52s, have announced two co-headline UK dates.
Though both groups had stepped back after farewell runs in the early 2020s, a shared performance during SNL’s 50th anniversary sparked a reunion that energised fans worldwide. An 11-date Cosmic De-Evolution tour of the US and Canada opened in Toronto last month and the groups will now appear at The O2 in London on Saturday 20 June and Manchester’s AO Arena on Sunday 21 June, with special guests The Rezillos and Lene Lovich.
Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976, The B-52s blend rock, surf, and funk with a kitschy, retro flair. Best-known for hits like Rock Lobster and Love Shack, the band remain one of the most iconic and influential US bands of the last four decades.
These concerts will mark The B-52s’ first performances on UK soil since 2019. Led by original co-founders Fred Schneider (vocals), Kate Pierson (vocals, keyboards) and Cindy Wilson (vocals), the band have continued to captivate audiences with shows built around their colourful, danceable and era-defining catalogue.
Iconic Outfit
DEVO, formed in Akron, Ohio, in 1973, are best known for their US hit Whip It, a catchy, synth-driven anthem that brought them mainstream success, as well as Girl U Want and Freedom Of Choice, which showcase their mix of punk energy and electronic experimentation.
With their matching jumpsuits and iconic energy dome hats, the band is fronted by original members Mark Mothersbaugh (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Gerald Casale (vocals, bass, keyboards) and Bob Mothersbaugh (guitar, vocals).
In 2023, the New Wave provocateurs launched their 50 Years of De-Evolution tour alongside a career-spanning compilation album, reigniting global interest in their innovative fusion of art rock, synth pop and punk. In August this year, the film DEVO was released on Netflix. Directed by Chris Smith, the documentary traces the group’s rise to fame from obscurity through rare archival footage and interviews.
Cult Classics
Completing the bill are Scottish punk legends The Rezillos. Known for their high energy blend of 60s garage rock, off kilter pop sensibility and technicolour punk theatricality, The Rezillos’ cult status was forged through their Top 10 debut album Can’t Stand The Rezillos and a string of underground classics.
Opening the evening will be the iconic Lene Lovich, a beloved figure of New Wave whose theatrical, avant pop style has left an enduring imprint on alternative music.
Tickets go on general sale on Friday 5 December 2025 at 10am here.
