The singer will be playing his Life Thru A Lens and Britpop albums in full
Robbie Williams has today announced a special live show to coincide with the release of his forthcoming album, Britpop.
Billed as the most intimate gig of his career, Robbie will play his debut album, Life Thru A Lens, and his most recent, Britpop, in full at the special show taking place at Dingwalls in Camden, London, on 9 October.
Fans who pre-order Britpop from his website will receive early access to tickets for this new live date.
It has also been revealed that Britpop features guest appearances from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Gaz Coombes (Supergrass), Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy and Gary Barlow. Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi is also featured on the album on first single Rocket which was released earlier this summer.
Britpop will be the 13th Robbie Williams solo studio album, following the 2019’s The Christmas Present. It also follows the release of Better Man, the biopic of Robbie Williams played on screen by a CGI Chimpanzee.
Upbeat And Anthemic
Earlier this year Robbie revealed that he set out to create the album he wanted to make after leaving Take That in 1995. He said: “It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British Music. I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album. It’s raw, there are more guitars and it’s an album that’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too. I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear this album.”
The Britpop cover artwork is a nod to the album title featuring a painting of one of Robbie’s most iconic looks – his red tracksuit outfit that he wore to attend Glastonbury Festival in 1995 at the height of the Britpop era.
