Northern Irish rockers announce ninth studio album and autumn-winter tour dates

Northern Irish rockers Ash will release their ninth studio album, Ad Astra, on 3 October via Fierce Panda.
Featuring 11 brand new tracks alongside their raucous take on Beetlejuice staple Jump In The Line, Ad Astra also includes guest appearances from Blur guitarist Graham Coxon on two songs: the title track and Fun People.
Following 2023’s Race The Night, the band’s highest charting album for 20 years), Ash recently gave fans a taste of what to expect with the catchy lead single Give Me Back My World. Frontman, Tim Wheeler commented, “If I told you this song dates back to 2020 you’d hardly need a degree from the school of Marple, Holmes and Poirot to figure out what it’s getting at. And although those sentiments may be just a memory from the standpoint of 2025, the song’s heart still feels relevant. In a time of chaos, disruption and angst there’s still a beautiful world out there and it’s worth fighting for.”

“The title Ad Astra,” reveals drummer Rick McMurray, “points to ideas that became a big identifier back in 1995, but they’re updated with 30 years life experience. I’ll leave you to compare the differences, and with the thought that while the optimistic innocence of 1995 might have been tempered with 30 years of experience, if you look to the stars, you might still feel a glimmer. Of hope.”
The trio, completed by bassist Mark Hamilton, first burst onto the scene when they were fresh out of school in the mid-90s. 1977, their daring debut, featured hit singles Kung Fu, Girl From Mars, Angel Interceptor, Goldfinger and Oh Yeah, setting the template for their melodious brand of power-pop rock that has endured throughout their career.
