The track is a re-worked version of Slow Emotion Replay from their 1993 album, Dusk

THE THE to release new single, Slow Emotion Replayed, a reworked version of 1993’s Slow Emotion Replay.
While compiling a set during rehearsals for their Ensouled World Tour 2024, THE THE believed Slow Emotion Replay sounded weaker than others in their catalogue. However, before it was dropped from the list, one final attempt at reinventing it proved to be the song’s resurrection. Reincarnated as Slow Emotion Replayed, the track stayed in the set and was played on the tour.
Matt Johnson has a penchant for reinventing his own songs as with This Is The Day, Infected, Armageddon Day and others. The original version appeared on 1993’s Dusk LP, and this cut was recorded in Studio Cinéola, London. It features Johnson (on Omnichord and vocals), Barrie Cadogan (electric guitar and backing vocals), James Eller (bass) and Gillian Glover (backing vocals).

The sleeve features exclusive, previously-unpublished artwork by Matt’s late brother Andrew aka Andy Dog. Over the years Andy was very much responsible for the distinctive aesthetic style of THE THE’s releases.
The single is digitally released today (6 June). A limited edition 7″ vinyl single and exclusive limited edition CD single will be available from 11 July.
The latter format is a vinyl-look CD with Slow Emotion Replayed and its corresponding B-side Crow Commotion Displayed plus four additional tracks which first appeared as B-sides on THE THE’s recent 7″ vinyl singles released 2020-24: When Is The Heart Of Waiting, Mycelium Muse, Frozen Clouds, Velvet Muscle Scream.
The Slow Emotion Replayed vinyl single will be available to purchase at concerts on the Ensouled Tour 2025 prior to its official physical release.
