Pop On The Tyne

As the frontman of Dire Straits, Knopfler came to prominence in the 80s with the mega-selling album Brothers In Arms and recorded memorable hits such as Sultans Of Swing, Romeo & Juliet, Private Investigations, Money For Nothing and Walk Of Life. Here he returns to his roots, and the album title track reflects Knopfler’s deep affection for the river that runs through his childhood home city Newcastle.

“Crossing the Tyne is always on your mind,” he says. “It’s what you were doing when you were leaving as a youngster and that feeling is always the same every time you do it. You’re heading out or youre coming back, and it just connects with your childhood. The power of it doesn’t go away.”

Released on CD, deluxe 2CD, double gatefold vinyl and cassette, there will also be a special limited edition box set which features bonus tracks, a litho print, a guitar pick set, and an enamel badge.
