The first clip of the hotly-anticipated new George Michael documentary, Freedom Uncut, has been released.

In it, we see talking heads Elton John, Mark Ronson, John Paul Gaultier, Nile Rodgers, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and others discuss the ideas behind George’s concept for the iconic Freedom! ’90 music video.

The supermodel-stuffed Freedom! ’90 music video was directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, The Social Network) and a 4K remastered version of the full video will play out before the main feature when Freedom Uncut hits cinemas on 22 June.

In the clip, Elton John explains that “It changed the whole face of how videos were done. The video said everything. It was genius and it was a revolutionary thing.”

Supermodel Naomi Campbell added: “George pitched it to me in L.A. and his exact words were ‘You’re the leader of the gang and unless you say yes, the rest of the girls won’t.’”

The George Michael documentary Freedom Uncut promises to be a poignant and moving tribute to the legacy of one of Britain’s greatest performers.

“In his final work,” the press release states, “George Michael reclaims the narrative of his career, personal life and controversies in collaboration with co-director, producer and friend David Austin.”
