Welcome to Classic Pop, the ultimate celebration of great pop and chart music. Classic Pop is both a print magazine and website bringing you pop artist interviews, music news, album and gig reviews from the best acts from the late-70s post-punk through to the synth-pop, New Romantic, ska, indie and guitar greats of the 80s and chart stars of the 90s – plus the best new acts that embrace our classic pop heritage.
Classic Pop magazine first launched in 2012 and was the brainchild of music journalist and ZTT Records collaborator Ian Peel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Peel_(journalist), https://twitter.com/letitbeep @letitbeep), and Anthem CEO and launch publisher of Music Tech and Vintage Rock Jon Bickley (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jon-bickley-62763a8/).
The magazine rapidly developed a reputation for bringing the very best journalistic and design qualities of the established rock magazines to the overlooked, but oh-so-adored, pop world – with 80s pop very much at the heart of everything.
The magazine and website are now edited by Steve Harnell (https://www.linkedin.com/in/steve-harnell-788b024/, https://twitter.com/steve_harnell and https://www.steveharnell.co.uk/), a music and entertainment journalist and editor who’s plied his trade with the Bristol Evening Post and Western Daily Press, Future Publishing and Immediate Media, before joining Anthem to run Classic Pop and Vintage Rock.
Classic Pop is the home to some of music’s finest journalists, with regular contributions from:
- Wyndham Wallace (https://twitter.com/WyndhamWallace – @WyndhamWallace, www.wyndhamwallace.com)
- John Earls (https://twitter.com/EarlsJohn – @EarlsJohn)
- Paul Kirkley (https://twitter.com/prkirkley – @prkirkley)
- Andy Jones (https://www.linkedin.com/in/andy-jones-214a7a81/)
- Matthew Rudd (https://twitter.com/MatthewJRudd – @MatthewJRudd).
