Robin Scott – aka M – has shared his first new music under the M moniker in over 40 years – Break The Silence is out now via BMG.

Robin Scott explains: “Break The Silence means so much to me on a personal level. On a professional level, I feel it’s the first new recording which I can happily attribute to a fusion of the musical chemistry which has been associated with me as an artist/producer, reflected in the crossover credit of both Robin Scott and M.”

The new song follows the release of a previously unheard track, Baby Close The Window, which Scott discovered in his archives earlier this year. Break The Silence is set to herald a new period of creativity for M, with further new releases set to follow.

In March 1979, Robin Scott released Pop Muzik, an era-defining smash in New York, London, Paris and Munich – and indeed across the globe. Pop Muzik hit the top spot in the US, Canada, Australia, West Germany and Sweden, and only just missed No.1 in the UK.

Robin’s musical CV is long and varied, with initial forays into the folk world of the late 1960s followed by ventures into independent label ownership (Do It), artist production and management in the 1970s.

Friends included Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren and legendary designer Vivienne Westwood, and it was while Scott was on location in Paris filming The Slits with director Julien Temple (a commission from the management team of Malcolm McLaren), that Scott conceived the ‘M’ concept.
