Claudia Brücken announces new album

Former Propaganda vocalist, Claudia Brücken announces new album, Night Mirror.

Claudia’s last studio outing came with the critically acclaimed 2022 album The Heart Is Strange (No.11 in the UK album chart), which saw her reunite with her Propaganda colleagues Susanne Freytag and Stephen Lipson to produce a sequel to A Secret Wish using the name xpropaganda.

It was her latest project in a eclectic series of musical and artistic collaborations with the likes of Wolfgang Flür (Kraftwerk), Martin Gore (Depeche Mode), ACT, Andrew Poppy, Andy Bell (Erasure) and Peter Hook (New Order), confirming her reputation as an uncompromising and captivating musical pioneer.

Night Mirror, her fourth solo album, was written and recorded in London between 2023-25 with long-time collaborator John Williams (The Housemartins, Alison Moyet, Blancmange, Simple Minds). It is an enthralling collection of 10 original compositions, an intense, intoxicating series of mysteries, reflections, struggles and obsessive observations set against a backdrop of sleek, elegant electronica.

Titles include Rosebud, Sincerely, Sound And The Fury, To Be Loved, The Only Ones, All That We Ever Have and Dancing Shadow. What is the Night Mirror? “The songs seemed to come to me in the middle of the night, and when I listened to them, there I was. Between two worlds, looking for answers in the shadows.”

Enthralling Collection

Materialising in the 1980s singing for Düsseldorf’s electronic radicals Propaganda, one of the first signings to the legendary ZTT record label (Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Art Of Noise, 808 State, Grace Jones), Claudia’s powerful image and otherworldly vocals made her one the decade’s most inspiring female musicians.

Propaganda had chart success with ambitious and innovative hit singles like Dr Mabuse and Duel and the scope and grandeur of their 1985 album A Secret Wish makes it a constant presence in Greatest Albums Of The 1980s lists.

For fans, Night Mirror is a Claudia you know, and one you don’t yet know. For newcomers, it is an introduction to her voice and songs as special as any album she has made.
